On Tuesday December 13th, the Transnational Institute will host a public lecture on food movements, agro-ecology and the future of food and farming.
Date and time: Tuesday December 13th, 7-9 pm
Location: de Doelenzaal, Universiteit van Amsterdam, Singel 421-427
Three international speakers, each with a long background of experience in activism and academic research on interconnected themes such as conservation, agro-ecology and sustainable farming, political economy and the social sciences will address  the question ‘what alternative policies can enable communities to realise their own food security in the face of these environmental challenges, while also improving livelihoods, building resilience, and conserving ecosystems?’
The speakers are:
Tony Weis (Associate Professor of Geography at the University of Western Ontario);
Miguel Altieri (Professor of Agroecology at the University of California, Berkeley) and
Eric Holt-Giménez (Executive Director of Food First / Institute for Food and Development Policy).
TNI approached FARMING THE CITY to co-host a special workshop with Eric and Miguel for local food activist the following day, Wednesday December 14th. As the space for this workshop is limited , we are unfortunately not able to invite you all and have invited a group of key actors in the field to join. However, we will keep you posted on the outcomes and hope to see you at the public event on Tuesday.
